Our fighters enjoy multiple success at the WKO World Championships

This was our first appearance at this event held over three days at the Metrodome in Barnsley, having successfully navigated the weigh in on the Friday our students started competing in the elimination rounds on Saturday morning, the finals were held on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday and at the end of it all our 13 students who attended the event amassed a total of 16 Golds, 9 Silver medals with not a bronze medal in sight. 

Amongst our gold medallists were triple world champions Kyrah Khan and Ruby Hoyle who both won their respective full, light and semi contact divisions, double world champions  Brad Derbyshire with wins in light and semi contact, Tejay Bacon with wins in full and light contact and Mia Woodward who won two light contact divisions having elected to also compete in a higher weight division.

Our other world Champions who all secured their victories in light contact were James Casey, Kaiya and Kyran Henry – Jones and Romeo Navaratnam.

Silver medals went to Kyran Henry – Jones, Mia Woodward and James Casey in full contact, Ava Casey and Bradley ‘O’ Shea in light contact and Tejay Bacon, Kyran and Kaiya Henry Jones and Romeo Navaratnam in semi contact. 

Congratulations to our squad of fighters who registered the fourth highest medal tally of all the clubs and countries competing at the championships.
